The RI Bar CLE Committee is dedicated to providing a comprehensive curriculum that combines substantive areas of law with practical training and skills for the benefit of our valued members.
We warmly welcome participation from other Bar Committees and all members of the Bar, encouraging them to contribute their ideas and propose programs for presentation. When choosing your topic, please bear in mind that our audience seeks practical information that can be directly applied in their day-to-day legal practice.
When drafting a proposal, think about what will make your session stand out and resonate with your peers. Consider these guiding questions:
-
What is the key message or skill you want your audience to gain?
-
Are there any new laws or landmark cases that will change how attorneys practice?
-
What specific skills like research or negotiation will attendees improve by participating?
-
How will your program help attorneys avoid common mistakes or ethical issues?
-
What diverse perspectives or experiences will you include to enrich the discussion?
-
Are there niche topics or emerging trends that your program will address? What new knowledge will attendees gain?
-
How could this program help attorneys explore new practice areas or increase their income?
-
What unique benefits or insights will they gain that will help them professionally?
The RI Bar Association believes that different perspectives strengthen our justice system, enhance the success of those who practice law, and better serve our communities. When selecting your speakers, aim to include speakers from diverse backgrounds, including differences in race, gender, disability, and other life experiences. Different viewpoints make for richer discussions and more impactful sessions.
