New Attorney Requirements
The requirements for new attorneys are overseen by the Rhode Island MCLE Commission, which administers and monitors compliance for attorney education.
The Bridge the Gap program is a mandatory course designed to ease the transition from law school to practice. This program is available on the RI Bar On-Demand CLE Catalog. For full details on all MCLE requirements, including compliance and exemptions, visit the MCLE's website.
The RIBA assumes no responsibility for opinions, statements, and facts in any CLE or Annual Meeting program. Neither the opinions expressed in any program nor its content represent the official view of the Rhode Island Bar Association or the views of its members.
REMINDER: According to Article IV Rule 3, all Continuing Legal Education credits must be reported to the MCLE Commission by June 30th each year. You can conveniently report these credits electronically through the Supreme Court's Attorney Portal, which can be accessed here. Please note that credits can be stored and submitted at any time during the CLE year (July 1 - June 30), eliminating the need to wait until the last minute. If you have any questions regarding this requirement, please contact the MCLE Commission at (401) 222-4942 or visit their website.
For general inquiries and information, please don't hesitate to contact our CLE office at (401) 421-5740 or email us at cle@ribar.com.
