Coronavirus Update: Employment Law CLE Program Offered to Members Free of Charge as a Courtesy; SBA Facebook Live for Small Business Financial Assistance Information

We will continue to pass along pertinent information related to the coronavirus crisis as we receive it.

We are pleased to announce that we are offering an upcoming seminar, COVID-19: Employment Law Update, to Bar members, free of charge, as a courtesy and as a recognition of the commendable efforts of our members during this unprecedented time. The program provides attorneys with employees and attorneys advising businesses and employees with an update in employment law, as it specifically relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. The live webinar is schedule for Friday, April 10th at 11:00 am. For more information and to register, click here.

For any members who would like to return the gesture, we ask you to consider helping the Association and the public through our Volunteer Lawyer Program. For every 30 hours of pro bono assistance, attorneys are given vouchers good for attending webinars/seminars worth three CLE credits. We also have a promotion right now for a FREE 6-month introductory membership in our Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). LRS is also very important resource right now as many members of the public are contacting attorneys and in need of initial consultations by telephone. Please consider joining one or several of our programs (VLP, LRS, Elderly Pro Bono, US Armed Forces Legal Services, Foreclosure Prevention Project) if you are not already a member. Contact Public Services Director Susan Fontaine at sfontaine@ribar.com or 421-7799 for more information.

Also of interest is an upcoming Facebook Live informational session with the U.S. Small Business Administration Rhode Island District Director Mark Hayward who will be joined by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman David Cicilline to field questions about the resources available to small business owners and what the SBA, the State of Rhode Island, and Congress is doing to provide relief for small businesses in Rhode Island. You can click here to join LIVE this Friday, April 3rd, at 10:00 am. You can also submit a question ahead of time by clicking here right now.
