RI Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell and State Court Administrator J. Joseph Baxter, Jr. circulated an email to Bar members on March 6 related to coronavirus concerns. They noted that while there are only two known cases in RI at the time of their writing and the RI Health Department reports that the risk of transmission is low, they are monitoring the situation closely and have amped up cleaning/sanitizing efforts in State courthouses. They noted that their doors will remain open and the courts will continue to fulfill their primary mission of administering justice. They reminded members that jury service is essential to the administration of justice, and that they are committed to ensuring the safety of jurors, as well as court staff and the public.
