Description
Responding to Limitation of Liability Claims in Maritime Injury Cases
Available as a live webinar.
In this course, attorneys Peter Regan and Michael Monti of the Newport-based Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP, will provide an overview of the Limitation of Liability Act of 1851, which allows vessel-owners to limit their liability for property damage, personal injury, and death to the post-accident value of the vessel on which the accident occurred. The instructors will present the history (which has a Rhode Island connection), purpose, and meaning of the Act, the time-sensitive procedures the federal judiciary has created for its application, and several recent RI and MA cases. This course is a must-attend for personal injury attorneys who occasionally field calls from parties injured in boating accidents. The course may also be of interest to members of the insurance defense bar and has broad appeal given its interesting and unique subject matter.
YOU MUST CHOOSE IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL DURING COURSE SELECTION.
