Access to Justice: Bridging Language Barriers
Available in-person or as a live webinar
Each year the Rhode Island Judiciary provides language access services to thousands of limited English proficient (LEP) court users to ensure equal access to the courts, regardless of English proficiency. This program will explore how the Judiciary works to provide services to ensure that LEP court users can meaningfully participate in court proceedings, navigate the court system, and access court services. This program will further explore best practices for attorneys representing LEP court users, and best practices for entities seeking to comply with applicable state and federal language access laws and regulations.
Participants will learn how to identify language access barriers faced by clients or program participants, how to request language services in the state court system, and best practices for navigating litigation with LEP parties.
YOU MUST CHOOSE IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL DURING COURSE SELECTION.
