Law Student Member Benefits
vLex Fastcase

Free, 24-hour, 7-days-a-week access to vLex Fastcase, an online legal research library. vLex Fastcase provides industry-leading tools to make legal research easier and more intuitive. Lawyers, law firms, and bar associations across the country trust vLex Fastcase to provide them with comprehensive access to the law through an innovative and award-winning platform. vLex Fastcase helps forward-thinking lawyers navigate the law faster and smarter.

Rhode Island Bar Journal

Law student members will have access to the Rhode Island Bar Journal, the official publication of the Rhode Island Bar Association. The Bar Journal is published bi-monthly, six times annually with articles concerning relevant legal issues, member profiles, updates on members' achievements, book reviews, Bar news events, programs and meetings, as well as advertisements for products and services of interest to Bar members. Click here to view the Bar Journal Homepage which includes links to past issues since 2009.

We recently updated our Bar Journal Editorial Selection Criteria to allow a law student member to co-author Bar Journal articles with a non-member, particularly, a law professor. A maximum of two authors (co-authors) is permitted for article submissions and contributors are requested to submit article topic ideas for approval to the Managing Editor prior to submission. Click here to view the Article Selection Criteria.

Continuing Legal Education

Law student members will enjoy FREE attendance at Bar-sponsored Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars. This exclusive benefit not only facilitates ongoing legal education but also highlights the RIBA’s commitment to supporting the professional development of future legal professionals. Click here to access the comprehensive CLE Calendar which includes information on all of our upcoming seminars. To register for a seminar, please contact CLE Director Madeline Benner at mbenner@ribar.com

Bar Committees

Law student members are entitled to attend, as non-voting members, Bar Committee meetings focusing on a wide range of matters relating to legal practice. This is a great way to network, especially if you might be practicing law in Rhode Island. In particular, we recommend you join the New Lawyers Committee as it is a great place to get acquainted with recent Bar members. Click here to visit the Committee page for more information on the 28 different Committees available to join.

RIBA News and Events

Law student members will enjoy the benefit of staying informed and engaged with the Rhode Island Bar Association through regular communications. These updates will keep you abreast of the latest news and events, ensuring you are well-connected to the legal community and opportunities for professional development.
