CLE Speaker Resources
The RI Bar Association sincerely appreciates the time and expertise of attorneys who serve as volunteers for Continuing Legal Education programs. This page provides general guidance and expectations for individuals participating as speakers in CLE programs, including regular CLE seminars and the Annual Meeting.

Speaker Responsibilities & Expectations

Professional Responsibility & Content Ownership
CLE Speakers are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of their presentations and written materials. Speakers should exercise professional judgment to ensure content is current, balanced, and appropriate for a continuing legal education audience.

The RI Bar Association does not independently verify or audit CLE content and does not assume responsibility for the views and opinions expressed by speakers.

Use of AI & Other Research Tools
Speakers may choose to use artificial intelligence (AI) or other research and drafting tools as part of their preparation process. When used, these tools should function as support resources and not as a substitute for the speaker’s professional judgment or expertise. Speakers remain fully responsible for reviewing, verifying, and finalizing all content presented or submitted.

Written Materials & Publications
Materials may be distributed to attendees or made available for later purchase. Speakers are responsible for ensuring that submitted materials reflect their own professional work product and comply with applicable CLE requirements.

Accessibility & Presentation Considerations
Speakers should follow general formatting or accessibility guidelines for slides or written materials to support participant access and engagement. Guidance regarding accessibility considerations is available from the CLE Director upon request..

Available Resources
The CLE Department provides general guidance and support to assist speakers in preparing and delivering CLE programs. Depending on the program and format, available resources may include materials guidance, templates, logistical coordination, and technical support. Additional assistance may be provided upon request and as appropriate for the program.
