Summary

Speaker: Christopher J. Yagoobian, Esq.

This CLE is designed to cover what attorneys need to know about the potential usefulness and ethical pitfalls of using generative artificial intelligence in the practice of law.

This CLE will focus on how attorneys relying on AI can run afoul of the Rhode Island Rules of Professional Conduct by discussing some of the Rules of Professional Conduct and their interplay with the use of generative AI in the practice of law.

This CLE will examine guidance from the bars of jurisdictions outside Rhode Island to identify steps that Rhode Island practitioners can take to minimize the risks associated with the use of AI.

This CLE will also discuss recent cases where attorneys from neighboring jurisdictions landed themselves in trouble with bar counsel from their respective bars and where things went wrong for those attorneys to provide guidance under the Rhode Island rules.
