Coronavirus Update: Supreme Court Orders Expedited Hearings to Reduce Inmate Count; Electronic Recording in Providence; South Kingstown Probate Court Memo

According to a news advisory from the RI Judiciary on Friday, April 3rd, in the matter of “In re Request for Prison Census Control in Response to COVID-19,” an emergency petition filed March 30 by the Office of the Public Defender, the Supreme Court this afternoon ordered expedited hearings in the Superior Court and the District Court on motions to reduce sentence for prison inmates who meet certain criteria. According to an email from the Tax Collector's Office at Providence City Hall, electronic recording is now available for the City of Providence. More information and the e-recording link is available at www.providenceri.gov/deeds. As a result of this service, hand delivery of documents to Providence City Hall for recording after 1pm on Thursday will be discontinued. Delivery by FedEx, UPS and USPS are still accepted.
