Family Court to Begin Electronic Filing in Juvenile, Adult Criminal Cases

01/02/2020 -According to an email from the RI Family Court, on January 6, 2020, electronic filing will be available for Family Court adult criminal matters as well as all juvenile justice matters including wayward, delinquent, and child welfare matters. The Family Court's Criminal Electronic Filing System Guidelines and the Family Court's Electronic Filing System for Juvenile Proceedings are available on the Judiciary's website at www.courts.ri.gov by clicking on the heading "Electronic Filing" under the Self-help Center and scrolling to the appropriate guidelines under the heading of "E-Filing Guidelines By Court."

The Family Court Rules for Juvenile Proceedings and the Family Court Rules of Criminal Procedure are also effective on January 6, 2020.  These rules are available on the Rhode Island Judiciary's website at courts.ri.gov by clicking on the heading of "Court Rules - Public Comment" under the Self-help Center box on the home page.

Effective January 2, 2020, the case numbering format for juvenile justice matters has been changed.  The new format is PJ20-000001, etc.
