It shall be the duty of this Committee to provide a forum in which views on current issues and best practices related to creditors' and debtors' rights may be exchanged; educate and update members on the role of creditors' and debtors' rights litigation in state and federal courts; review and/or propose legislation affecting creditors' and debtors' rights litigation and bankruptcy laws (pending approval from RIBA leadership); and encouraging the training, development, and success of lawyers interested in creditors' and debtors' rights and bankruptcy litigation. All committee proposals and recommendations for administrative, policy, or rule changes, or formal positions must be reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee. Any legislative activities must follow the protocol outlined in the Chairpersons' Guide. All RIBA committees are encouraged to report, at least quarterly for publication in the RI Bar Journal, the significant issues and ideas being discussed in its committee.
